Facebook profile…

… after a long hesitation, I also created my profile on Facebook. The link to the profile was added to the left sidebar (it’s the small blue square icon with white letter f inside). Good thing is, that Facebook now supports human-readable profile names and web links.

My profile name is lubos.vrbka. I know, not much invention… but it’s good to be consistent, at least sometimes.

Let’s see now how many people I know I am going to find there. So far I am quite impressed.

WordPress update

The time has come to perform another upgrade of my WordPress installation, this time to the version 2.8.

As usually, the upgrade process went automatically and smoothly. The new version has an impressive list of new features… let’s hope it will work as good as the old one. There is no need to doubt it, since it WordPress has always worked for me without any problems.

At the same time, I made some changes to my Resume and also to the organization of the Research section (named now Professional). This should help to keep things clearer, particularly in the future…

After really long time, I made some photos during our trip to the falconry at the castle Rosenburg in Riedenburg. The result is available here.

Po dlouhé době jsme si zase udělali výlet (tentokrát do sokolnické stanice v Riedenburgu). Při naší poslední návštěve se nám nevydařilo počasí, tak jsme to chtěli zkusit ještě jednou. Udělal jsem pár fotek (poslední dobou to nějak zanedbávám), podívat se na ně můžete tady. Sisa k tomu na své stránce napsala i krátké povídání…

My new photo (much more serious than the old one, still present in the sidebar) has been attached to the Curriculum Vitae. I think the photographer from the Studio Zink in Regensburg did a perfect job…

The old picture will stay in the sidebar, since it is still more probable to meet me informally dressed. This might of course change in the future, depending on the job I will get. :-)

The vacation is over and it is time to get back to work… Photos from our trip have to be processed first, so it will take some time before they are posted here – stay tuned for updates.

During our travel, another paper of mine was published, this time in the Journal of the American Chemical Society. This work concerns the specific ion effects at nonpolar surfaces of proteins and discusses the interplay between hydration and other forces, influencing the resulting ion binding pattern. Bibliographical information and the respective link can be found in the Journal Articles section.

List of publications was updated – PDF (Czech, English) and LaTeX source .tar.bz2 formats are available for download (also in the Miscellaneous section of this webpage).
