This is probably the last post of the year 2007.
Since a new version of WP became available yesterday, I decided to upgrade (take it as a celebration of the coming year 2008). Everything seems to work fine, so let’s hope it will not change in the future.
And by the way, all the best for the year 2008.
I was finally able to test the integrated card reader in my notebook (actually I had to do it, since I forgot the USB cable for my camera and wanted to transfer to my computer all the christmas photos I took). It worked fine without any problems. Therefore, the installation guide for Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V3205 notebook was updated accordingly.
O minulém víkendu jsme se jeli podívat do Norimberka na místní (v Německu, ale i ve světě pravděpodobně nejznámější) vánoční trhy - takzvaný Christkindlmarkt. To co jsme vyfotili najdete tady.
Moc toho sice není, ale znáte to přísloví s holubem a vrabcem… Lidí tam byla spousta, ale celkem to stálo za to. Víceméně všechny stánky prodávaly zboží nějak spojené s Vánoci (ne jak v Brně, kde se údajně trhy víceméně zvrhly ve vietnamskou tržnici) nebo případně rúzné pochutiny - svařák, norimberské párečky, …
Chemical & Engineering News published a text concerning the ‘Hofmeister affairs’. The article entitled A Renaissance For Hofmeister by Elizabeth K. Wilson can be found here (subscription is needed to access the article).
Among others, the work done during my Ph.D. studies with Pavel Jungwirth in Prague is discussed there. Moreover, one of the figures is coming from our study of proteins solvated in salt solutions. Konečně jsem se dostal ke zpracování obrázků z našeho výletu do Passau a na hrad Neuburg am Inn o prvním listopadovém víkendu. Pár fotek najdete tady.
Jako jeden ze svatebních darů jsme totiž dostali i romantickou noc na hradě Neuburg am Inn (ještě jednou díky, Leni) s večerním menu o třech chodech v hradní restauraci. Počasí sice v sobotu nestálo za moc, ale aspoň nepršelo.

The bug causing eef to produce wrong results was found and corrected. There is now new version of MD tools available here.
It is also accessible through the Miscellaneous section.
… worked as usual, everything went smooth. So another easy trouble-free upgrade.
I just have to find out how exactly does the gallery2 plugin work. It is the only piece of WP that is giving me trouble from time to time. It seems that I will disable it completely, since I actually don’t use most of its functions and the things I need can be done manually.
Two bugs were discovered in the code of the eef program from my MD tools ‘package’. The program can be used for the calculation of the electric field along specified vector at given point in the structure (using Amber trajectory).
First bug concerned bad treatment of a parameter defining the vector for electric field calculation and has been already fixed.
The other (possible) bug has to be investigated first. I expect to have a fix in the beginning of November - I will then have time to work on the code.

I created a page dedicated to restaurants, pubs, and cafés here in Regensburg. Every time we find some place worth visiting, it will be added. So the list can serve as a guide for those, who don’t know the town and want to find a decent place to eat.

Založil jsem stránku věnovanou místům, kde se dá v Regensburgu dobře najíst. Vždycky když najdeme nějakou takovou hospůdku či restauraci, tak ji tam přidám. Takže by z toho nakonec mohl být takový malý soukromý gastronomický průvodce…
Tentokrát tu mám 2 různé problémy. Jeden souvisí s degenerací daného kvantového stavu (D. A. McQuarrie, Statistical Mechanics, rovnice 1.34 a 1.35). Druhý jsem ‘potkal’ při diskusi orbitálního angulárního momentu a sférických harmonických funkcí (D. D. Fitts, Principles of Quantum Mechanics, kapitola 5.3, rovnice 5.49).
